Beginner 10k Training Program
8 weeks out from your 10k? Perfect. This plan is what you need.
About this program
This is a beginner half marathon program.
It has two main themes:
Building strength
Time on feet.
Building strength:
You'll focus on the two main lower-body lifts - squats and deadlifts, but you'll also find a mix of single-leg movements - e.g., lunges, split squats, RDLs, etc.
Running is a full-body workout that requires a balanced approach to training, so you'll also find a mix of upper-body movements.
Time on feet:
Nothing replaces running, but other activities like hiking and hill climbs have immense value.
You'll run twice a week, each in zone 2 or at a conversational pace. If you're preparing for a road run, both your runs will be on the road. But if you're looking at a trail run, try to get on the trails for your Saturday run.
