Hey there!
Jake here. Working Order is a weekly newsletter that helps you spend less time thinking and more doing.
Here’s 1 story to move you forward, 2 insights to keep in mind, and 3 simple wins to aim for this week.
That’s enough. Let’s dive in.
1 Story to Move You Forward
I have a confession.
Sometimes, I wish I could let Working Order go. I never actually do, though. For better or for worse, this is my path, and I must see it through.
I'm driven by the belief that the work I'm doing now, the stuff no one sees or cares about, is meaningful. It's worth something, even though I can't see it yet.
Here's a story to illustrate my point.
Before Tony Hawk became a household name, Rodney Mullen was quietly inventing the future of skateboarding in empty parking lots.
He wasn't flashy. He didn't crave the spotlight. But he was obsessed with skateboarding—specifically freestyle skating, which was niche and largely overlooked at the time.
At first, no one really understood what he was doing. He didn't fit the mold of what skateboarding was supposed to look like. But Rodney kept skating—alone, every day, for hours, driven by curiosity and creativity rather than applause.
Years later, the tricks he invented became the foundation of modern street skating. Without him, the style that dominates skateboarding today wouldn't exist.
👉 Takeaway: Just because no one sees your progress now doesn't mean it isn't real. Rodney Mullen didn't wait for validation—he kept showing up. The work you do in the dark might be the thing that lights everything up later.
2 Insights to Keep in Mind
You don't need an audience to make progress—just a willingness to show up, even when no one's watching.
Innovation doesn't come from doing what's popular. Sometimes, the best work is the stuff that doesn't make sense to others yet.
3 Wins to Aim for this Week
Practice in private. Pick one skill or habit you want to improve. Commit to working on it this week—no audience, no pressure, just progress.
Create something without judging it. Write, build, move, or explore an idea you've held back on. Don't worry about how it looks. Get it out of your head and into the world.
Track your streak. Choose one thing to do daily for the next 7 days. Consistency is your edge, whether it's training, journaling, or 10 minutes of focus.

That’s it for me. As always, I hope this was helpful.
See you next week,
Jake
Often, they are watching... But from the shadows. You never know who you will impact. Even if it's just one person, that is a job well done.
