Share Your Story. Inspire Others.
We're all pursuing a better version of ourselves. Your story helps.
Introduction
Thank you for your interest in contributing to Working Order.
Our priority is to inspire. That’s why we share stories about ordinary people doing extraordinary things with their fitness.
Tell us about your adventures through gripping storytelling, stunning photography, and emotional video. Your story could be the thing that finally sets someone off on their own adventure.
What kind of proposal are we looking for?
Our focus is health and fitness storytelling. We like stories that use physical challenges as backdrops to share stories that have an emotional and intrinsic element.
Health and fitness are deeply personal. Your story should reflect that. We want to hear from individuals or communities doing incredible things with their fitness.
Our stories must inspire our readers to pursue their own adventures.
What types of challenges are you looking for?
Adventure-based (Mountaineering, climbing, hiking, backpacking)
Running (Road or trail of any distance)
Cycling (Mountain, road, gravel or bikepacking)
Swimming (Open water or open ocean of any distance)
How should you propose an idea?
Please don’t send completed stories. To submit a story, email jake@workordertrainingco.com with:
A one-paragraph overview of the challenge you’re training for or completed.
The proposed first paragraph of your story.
Describe how you prepared for this challenge.
Every submission must include 3-5 photographs. We prefer unstaged photos. We want the writing and the photography to transport our readers. The more emotion, the better.
Feel free to include links or stories to any other challenges you’ve completed.
What does Working Order look for in writing style?
There are no limitations on style. Good writing is good writing. However, a sense of adventure and emotion are at the heart of every Working Order piece.
Again, we aim to inspire. As a guide, ask yourself, “Would this story inspire me to use my fitness in a new, creative, or challenging way?”
We like articles that are between 1200 and 2000 words, but this is not a hard and fast rule. We’ll happily consider longer or shorter pieces if the quality is high. These stories should focus on the personal experience of pursuing a physical challenge.
